Commissioning Officer

Responsibilities

  • You’ll be working with the local care providers, the NHS, and our operational colleagues, to develop and manage relationships that are critical to our success in commissioning the right support for older people.
  • You’ll take a lead role in the development and implementation of commissioning strategies and plans and work closely with the Commissioning Manager and Strategic Commissioning Lead for this small but ambitious team.
  • Working collaboratively, you’ll be a part of developing high quality care services for our residents, turning commissioning initiatives into positive outcomes for individuals.
  • You’ll utilise your substantial experience social care or a related field, your partnership working and negotiation skills to help deliver initiatives that funding is used to maximum effect, making a real impact in the communities we serve.
  • You’ll be applying your experience and skills in working with data and gathering and presenting information effectively, to support the delivery of our commissioning strategies.
  • You’ll work closely with other teams within our broader Service Area and with operational colleagues, to ensure that commissioned contracts deliver to required performance and quality indicators and outcomes, and that resources are fully utilised.

Requirements

  • You must have substantial experience of working in a social care, health or other support setting, combined with the strong analytical skills, relationship-building and knowledge required for effective commissioning.
  • You must have experience of partnership working, of negotiation and of leading and co-ordinating the successful implementation of plans and projects.
  • You will bring an awareness of the Adult Social Care market and wider system, ideally in relation to care home services, and you will have a good knowledge of the issues relating to the care and support of vulnerable people.
  • You will have good interpersonal skills and be a strong planner / organiser. Able to see the bigger picture / landscape for our strategic commissioning of care home services, you’ll have a strong eye for detail and will add value to the team through your ideas, initiative and hard work.
