Job Description
As an Area Manager you will help and support the Head of Retail by leading and motivating a team of approximately 15 shop managers trading in key Central London locations with a turnover of £2.3 million. You will ensure that sales and targets are achieved and surpassed, and will be instrumental in opening new stores in line with Client’s ambitious growth plans.
Responsibilities
- Meeting and exceeding targets set, both financial and performance led
- Ensuring excellent customer service is delivered as standard throughout
- Maximising sales and profitability of our stores overall
- Providing a stimulating, supportive and safe working environment ensuring that all of our policy and procedures are adhered to
- Implementing training and development of staff and volunteers
- Ensuring all cash handling and banking procedures comply with policy
- Ensuring all goods sold are complaint with trading standards
- Creating and embedding ideas on how the stores can promote the work
- Encouraging all structured opportunities such as gift aid, corporate events and other shop based promotions
- Planning work for your area of operations and set performance targets
- Ensuring that your team of store managers regularly change windows and internal displays
- Ensuring that bought in goods are priced coded and displayed in an appropriate fashion, and all back room stock is stored in an organized and safe manner
- Taking an active part in all stock takes to ensure they are carried out in line with instructions
- Identifying business objectives for improvement in and evaluate implications of new opportunities within your area
- Keeping accurate records relating to line management and 11’s together with all other appropriate staff information, including overtime and time sheets as necessary
- Assisting with and compile weekly staff rotas as needed and ensure holiday, absence and any other staff records are accurately recorded
- Sharing information and business objectives with the team, and feeding upwards any information from staff to our Support Office
- Ensuring your managers manage their staff and volunteers in line with expectations and procedures set down by the Client
- Overseeing and controlling each store’s costs and petty cash
- Ensuring that all health and safety requirements are met
Requirements
We are looking for an experienced manager who has successfully led a multisited team, had full accountability for the P&L, succession planning and volunteer management. Someone with a passion for charity retail who understands how to overcome the everyday challenges we face. You should have good experience generating donated goods, selling on line as well as in store, increasing gift aid as well as working with store managers to maximise profits for their individual stores.
