Job Responsibilities:
- Evaluating client objectives, identifying design solutions, and confirming client briefs.
- Establishing fee levels and negotiating commercial engagement terms.
- Impart scheme design solutions, have oversight of the design team providing input and direction.
- Preparation of specifications and strategic reports, review and comment on those prepared by others.
- Promoting and elevating the level of technical excellence of the mechanical engineering team.
- Attend principal meetings, presenting where required on behalf of the company.
- Producing design calculations, reviewing those prepared by others and providing guidance where required.
- Provide direction for coordination with external (architectural, structural, PQS, CDM, etc.) and internal (CAD, Revit, electrical, public health, Sustainability) disciplines.
- Maintain and promote continual professional development and good ethical conduct.
- Monitor and react to time/cost performance of MEP design team against deliverables.
- Have responsibility for the operation and performance of the MEP design team.
- Provide strategic direction and support as a Board Director.
Requirements:
- A degree qualification or suitable experience within a Consultancy practice relating to mechanical or building services (Chartered or working towards).
- Considerable experience of design in building services, post qualification completion (8-10 years minimum design experience).
- Operating at a Senior level of Management for least 2-3 years
- Client interaction skills.
- Software design experience ideally including Microsoft Office, Hevacomp or Cymap
- Knowledge of British standards, building regulations documents, etc.
- Knowledge of Health Technical Memoranda would also be of benefit.
- Professional membership of one of the following (CIBSE, IET, IMechE, IHEEM)
